Ana White Providence Bench
We are huge fans of Ana White’s free wood furniture building plans. If you haven’t checked out her website, it’s definitely a must…but I’ll warn you, you’ll get sucked in browsing for a loooong time. The husband has made several projects for our family and we have more in the works! Her plans are so easy to follow and you really can have that classic modern look without having to spend hundreds of dollars. You can build just about anything you want! And of course, there’s a huge sense of pride that comes along with creating your own unique piece. Personally, I love the look of hand-built rustic looking furniture a lot more than store bought.
For my birthday this year, he built the Providence Bench for me. I can honestly say that it was one of my favorite gifts of all time. I peeked out the window and saw him “secretly” building it and my heart just melted. All that hard work and love just for me. So much more sentimental (and affordable) than store bought!
Ok, I’ve bragged long enough about my handyman. Here’s the finished bench.
He used a black stain for the seat, and I used a minty vintage blue Valspar spray ( I think it’s called Satin Baby Blue?). And then I used a black glaze to distress all the corners and edges. More about that techniquehere!
You can find the tutorial and plans for this bench below.
