DIY Ruffle Burlap Garland

DIY Ruffle Burlap Garland

I looove burlap and I looove garland. I’ve seen some ruffled burlap going around and decided to take a crack at it. I’m making it in several colors so that it can stick around all year! I will be sharing the tutorial on KSL’s Studio 5 as well!

The easiest way to do this is to buy the rolls of burlap. They come in several colors if you get them at the craft store. Otherwise, you can cut several yards of burlap into 6 inch wide strips. I had already purchased several yards of burlap for other projects so I ended up using three 3 yard strips of 6 inch wide burlap. Like I said….sooo much easier to just buy the rolls.
Start by tieing your thread to the burlap edge by using a cross stitch. Then just VERY loosely thread it through to the end of your strip. As you can see below, my stitch lengths are about an inch and then an inch apart.

As you go along, scrunch your burlap down to the bottom and continue on until it’s as full and thick as you like. I  made mine about 3.5 feet. I’m making several long ones for railing. But these can be used as a tree garland and that would be soooo adorable!!

Secure the other end and hang! How darling is this??? I can’t wait to show you the rest.
