DIY Necklace Shirts (Refashion)

As promised on my DIY Loopy Bow Tutorial post, I’m going to explain how my friend Heidi and I made these cute necklace tops for the Superbowl!

I was SOOOO excited for my Seahawks to make it back to another Superbowl. And now that it’s over and we all know they crushed it…I can say with confidence that these outfits were NOT a waste!
Besides, even if they were I spent SO LITTLE making them. That was the point. Isn’t it ALWAYS? I wanted some short sleeve tees but my Walmart was out so I was left with these turtle necks. I’m not a big fan but they were only $3 a piece so I just went for it.
We used a few different things to make our necklace “pearl” sizes.
Different sized wooden dowels
The end of a sponge paint brush.

Getting the necklace line was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. But in the end I was still happy. I think next time I will lightly trace a pencil line or something to follow. Heidi is major OCD and of course hers were perfecto!!

Heidi is kind of the awesomest. If that’s not a word it should be. She’s one of my favorite friends to craft with because she’s just so darn good at it! I learn so much from her everytime. And she has this amazing eye that I just don’t have! We both make cakes and I am always so excited to pick eachother’s brains for more tips!

Here’s how hers turned out. SOOOO darling. She had better luck at her Walmart finding these white tees for $3.88. Doggonit! Oh well, I wasn’t about to start over. It wasn’t THAT big of a deal. Now the kids can still wear them when they want or we occasionally use them for pjs!
And here are my cuties modeling for me.
I’ll admit I was bummed that I didn’t get to make the navy blue tutus to go with them…but all of the Walmarts were out of blue tulle!! What the??? But I did find these cute lime green leggings at Walmart for $3.88 a piece. I mean come on Walmart…you are my kinda friend.
Total Cost: $9 for tops for THREE girls! So worth it.
They’re cute as can be and let’s face it…the Seahawks totally won because of the major 12th man support from our house. That’s right…I’ll take some credit.
