DIY CHRISTMAS TREE SHIRT

If you’re looking for some fun outfits for the kids to wear to your holiday festivities, look no further! This is such a quick idea even for last minute Christmas parties. All you need is a solid tee and some ribbon. I got my ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat of course!

First, I cut my strips of ribbon into about 4-5 inch lengths, folded them in half (don’t crease them), hot glued them together and then heat sealed the edges.

Next, I laid them out in the shape of a tree. I started at the bottom with 4 loops. The next row up has 3, then 2 loops, then one on top. Overlapping just enough to cover the ends.

Then I used a tiny dot of fabric glue to hold them in place for sewing. I put a piece of cardboard inside the shirt to keep the glue from bleeding to the back of the shirt.

Then I sewed them on the shirt as close to the ends as I could get. You don’t want these showing.

Last, I tied a bow and used some heavy fabric glue to attach to the top of the tree!

Of course, I have triplets so I had to make 3 and then made an extra for their cousin so they can match on Christmas Day!

We pair ours with some darling Candy Stripe Ruffle leggings from Shop A Perfect Pear (on Instagram).

We can’t wait to wear these to some of our fun holiday activities and we’ve already worn them for Christmas Tree decorating! The girls love them and they think they are “elves” when they wear them! From start to finish I believe this took about an hour to make 4. You can’t beat that!
